Exploring Retail Experience and Visual Storytelling

I’m a Fashion Marketing and Branding professional, recently graduated from Nottingham Trent University. I want to build a career in visual merchandising and experiential retail. My specific fields of interest are multisensory design, phygital retail, and visual storytelling.

About Me

My experience working at Holland Cooper was a turning point for me creatively and confirmed my interest in visual merchandising. Being surrounded by beautiful styling and strong brand storytelling in a luxury retail environment made me realise how much I value the relationship between space, product presentation, and consumer experience.

I’m drawn to styling, photography, and visual storytelling, particularly in fashion and phygital environments. I regularly visit pop ups and flagship stores to photograph displays and immersive spaces that inspire me creatively.

Identity

  • I’m interested in creating immersive retail spaces that feel clear and easy to navigate. I often find retail environments overwhelming and lacking direction, so I’m drawn to visual merchandising that balances interaction with clear spatial direction and storytelling.

I enjoy researching consumer behaviour, current trends, and how to create store layouts that build stronger emotional connections. I’m especially interested in experiential activations, phygital retail, and how technologies like AI can intentionally support storytelling.

  • I admire brands that have a cohesive visual style and make shopping feel personal. Ralph Lauren stands out to me because every touchpoint in their store tells a story and clearly aligns with their heritage lifestyle values.

I’m also inspired by brands like Glossier, Nike, and Uniqlo for how they combine visual merchandising, interaction, and immersive elements. A memorable retail experience was the Glossier ‘You Fleur’ pop up in Paris, which used AI generated personalisation. This made the experience memorable and engaging.

As someone who naturally pays close attention to detail, I enjoy refining my visuals until they feel curated and considered.

  • I want to build a career in visual merchandising and creative brand experiences, particularly in luxury fashion.

I’m specifically interested in creating experiential activations, window displays, and phygital installations, which combine storytelling, multisensory design, and emerging technologies. Long term, I want to create retail environments that are immersive and visually impactful whilst still being thoughtful and intentional.
